Run for Orbis in 2025’s Great Ethiopian Run!

“Ethiopia is a dis­tant and unfa­mil­iar coun­try. Dur­ing my Orbis jour­ney, I wit­nessed strik­ing scenes. I vis­it­ed a dilap­i­dat­ed oper­at­ing room with­out elec­tric light­ing, where patients await­ed eye surg­eries on a worn wood­en table. At the cap­i­tal’s eye hos­pi­tal, I saw an infant lack­ing nor­mal pupils in their moth­er’s arms, yearn­ing to see again. In a moun­tain­ous school, I was moved by the inno­cent smiles of chil­dren. In their hum­ble class­rooms, clean water and restrooms were their great­est lux­u­ries. Sim­plic­i­ty and puri­ty brought them hap­pi­ness, and the abil­i­ty to see filled them with joy!”

“As a 60^th birth­day gift to myself, I decid­ed to try some­thing new — par­tic­i­pate in a road run in Ethiopia! There, I learned so much about Orbis and the work they do. I thought I was going to encour­age the locals to per­se­vere through adver­si­ty, but instead, I was the one deeply moved by their incred­i­ble strength and pos­i­tive ener­gy. I gained so much from this birth­day journey!”
