Secondary School Activity 2024-25: Orbis Student Ambassador Campaign

Cultivating students' global citizenship awareness and having a global perspective is vital. Orbis Secondary School Activity 2024-25 'Orbis Student Ambassador Campaign' brings students to gain an understanding of the global blindness-saving work, while cultivating the organization, communication, creativity, and teamwork spirit of future leaders.

Orbis Student Ambassador Campaign 2023-24 Highlights

1. “A Dialogue with Orbis” Joint School Seminar

Orbis will provide different supporters, for example, corporate partners, volunteer ophthalmologists, previous Orbis Student Ambassadors, trip captains, etc. to share the goals of sustainable development and the concept of Global Citizenship.

2. "Experience in the Dark"

Dark Experience was organized in collaboration with the City University of Hong Kong, allowing Orbis Student Ambassadors to experience multiple obstacles and challenges on campus, and use technology to personally experience the vision conditions of different eye diseases. They tried to feel and perceive the inconvenience and difficulties of people with eye diseases in the process.

3. Team Fundraising Competition

Orbis Student Ambassadors from each team held fundraising activities on campus, such as Casual Wear Day, blindfold challenges, singing competitions, snack charity sales, etc., to promote the global blindness-saving work of Orbis and raise funds to save blindness for Orbis. We worked together to help the world create more hope and brightness.

4. 'Orbis Student Ambassador Campaign 2023-24' Final Presentation and Award Ceremony

The award ceremony was held at the HKU Li Ka Shing Faculty of Medicine. The Orbis Student Ambassador teams gave an exciting final presentation and summarized their fundraising results. A group of judges from various fields and professions scored and awarded the team.

5. Overseas Orbis Blindness-saving trip - Vietnam

The Orbis Student Ambassador teams organized various fundraising activities throughout the school year to compete for several awards. The five winning teams participated in an overseas blindness-saving experience trip to Vietnam during the summer holiday to witness the work of Orbis first-hand and to enhance their sense of mission to become "global citizens."

In August 2024, 10 Orbis Student Ambassadors set off to Vietnam to experience a blindness-saving trip!

FAQs:

1. After successfully signing up as an Orbis Student Ambassador, how will Orbis connect with me?

The leader of each Orbis Student Ambassador team will be added to the WhatsApp group, where all event information will be posted. The leader is responsible for disseminating relevant information to the team members. Additionally, all important announcements will also be posted on Google Classroom, which all student ambassadors can access.

2. What kind of fundraising activities can I host throughout the school year?

Orbis Student Ambassadors are free to organize various types of fundraising activities. Before planning an activity, students should discuss its details and feasibility with the supervising teacher and obtain school approval.

3. What materials will Orbis provide for my fundraising activities?

Orbis will supply materials to the Orbis Student Ambassador teams based on the current availability, as quantities are limited. The team leader must complete the material rental form at least two weeks before the fundraising event (i.e., when the materials are needed) and receive confirmation from Orbis to rent the materials. All supplies must be returned to Orbis within two weeks after the fundraising event.

4. After participating in the Orbis Student Ambassador Campaign, how can I obtain the Certificate of Volunteer Service Hours?

Orbis will use the short videos that summarize the fundraising activities submitted by the Orbis Student Ambassador teams in June 2025 as the benchmark. Orbis Student Ambassadors who successfully conduct fundraising activities for Orbis at their schools will receive the certificate on the day of the awards ceremony in July 2025.

5. What are the scoring criteria for awards in the Orbis Student Ambassador Campaign?

Orbis will initially grade the short videos submitted by each team and select the top 10 teams for the finals. Awards for creative and impactful planning will primarily consider the creativity, reach, influence, etc., of the fundraising activities. Detailed scoring criteria will be announced later. Awards related to the fundraising amount will be based on the team's total raised amount. Awards related to popular short films or short film voting will consider natural reach and valid votes (including likes, comments, and shares); content promoted through advertisements or paid clicks will not be counted.

6. How can I seek assistance from Orbis?
