As Vice President of Global Communications and Marketing at Orbis, Kristin is responsible for leading the organization’s US and global communications teams, the development of Orbis’s communications and marketing strategies, and close collaboration with affiliate offices to raise the visibility and influence of Orbis in the US and around the world. Kristin joined Orbis in August 2019 as Associate Director, Global Communications and Marketing. She was promoted to Director in January 2021 before going on to lead the department beginning in January 2022.
Highlights of her work at Orbis include growing the organization’s US media mentions by 250% in her first 15 months on the job; managing a yearlong project culminating in Orbis being the focus of an episode of Behind the Scenes, an award-winning Public Television series hosted by Laurence Fishburne; and managing the creation of a PSA highlighting the importance of getting one's eyes checked that racked up nearly 20 million earned views on hundreds of TV stations across the country, including in top-10 markets, within the first six months of its launch.
Prior to joining Orbis, Kristin led communications for What Works Cities, a Bloomberg Philanthropies initiative that helps local governments improve residents' lives by using data and evidence effectively. There she designed and led virtual and in-person courses on effective public communication that helped staff and chief executives from dozens of US cities to improve their skills, and she launched a national annual award recognizing city staff using public communication to build resident trust. Her career path has also included several years in the role of Features Writer at UNICEF and as Program Officer for the Global Citizenship Fellowship, a program that prepared young professionals for leadership in public service, at UNICEF USA.
